In February of this year, club member Cornelia Engel traveled to Dareda and Esilalei to visit the projects she is leading. The journey first took her to Dareda. There, groundbreaking was held for the urgently needed comprehensive renovation of a school building for children with disabilities. The conditions on site were challenging, and we are pleased that a generous donation makes the project possible. The company Selbach Machinery L.L.C provides the necessary funds for the entire renovation of the building! Many thanks at this point! We also want to thank all other donors for the project. They make an important contribution, allowing us to continue supporting the school in the future! The craftsmen on site work with great dedication and care, and almost daily we receive photos and videos showing how the old, dilapidated building is being transformed into a place of hope and learning.During the construction phase, the children are taught in another room – a temporary solution they endure with patience, knowing that soon a bright, safe, and welcoming school building awaits them.A key milestone of this journey was the official meeting with the mayor and regional representatives. Together with the building authority from Babati, the building was inspected and officially approved – a significant moment that shows our work is not only progressing but also recognized and supported officially.

Besides the construction progress, Cornelia also had the opportunity to witness touching individual stories. For one girl, physiotherapy was made possible through the support of a traveling companion – a small step that makes a big difference for this child. These encounters strengthen our resolve to initiate further sponsorships for especially needy children. We will first develop a concept for this. If you are interested in supporting such a project, please feel free to contact us now! After a few days, the journey continued to Esilalei. There, a kindergarten was built last year. It has been operating since January, but during Cornelia’s visit, it was inaugurated in a traditional ceremony. Cornelia was warmly welcomed, and together with parents and children, this milestone was celebrated. To mark the occasion, a goat was slaughtered, a special sign of appreciation and joy.
To further strengthen the kindergarten, we as a club will ensure the provision of a warm meal for the children in the future. Additional equipment such as tables and chairs are also planned.
At the end of this journey, one thing remains especially clear to us: deep gratitude. Seeing how your support arrives directly on site, how it changes lives and creates futures, touches us deeply.
Together, we will continue to accompany these developments, create new perspectives, and advance our commitment to education and inclusion in Tanzania.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
