Dear friends of endarofta,
This year again, we want to provide you with an update on our projects at the two schools at the beginning of the school year. We are pleased to report again from the Endarofta Secondary School that all graduates successfully completed their exams. This secured the school’s position in the top third of the national comparison. As last year, six of the graduates are students from the brothers’ sponsorship program. The total number of sponsorships has decreased from 38 to 36.

Anold also finished the school year successfully and was promoted to the next grade (Form 3). He faced a significant obstacle that he successfully overcame: the Form 2 national comparison tests. Halfway through secondary school, students must take a kind of final exam. All subjects include class tests issued by the Ministry of Education, which are also centrally graded. Anold’s performance has placed him in the best possible grade level. We have already transferred his school fees for 2023 and are happy to continue supporting his good education.

Unfortunately, we have less positive news from the Livestock Project at Endarofta Sec. This must be postponed for now. The last five rainy seasons were below average or completely missed. The yields from the school fields are still enough to ensure students are fed, but not sufficient to support livestock as planned. The school cannot afford to buy additional feed. Therefore, donations already received for this purpose will be held back until a suitable plan is developed. Instead, we are now focusing on a new project: a nursery room.

Currently, students have no place to retreat or receive short-term care when ill. Therefore, unused rooms will be converted into a nursery room for boys and girls. These rooms will be furnished with beds and basic medical equipment. This includes essentials like wound care supplies, standard medications, menstrual products, as well as simple diagnostic tools like glucose meters, blood pressure monitors, and malaria tests. The care will be provided by trained teaching staff.

There are also updates from the Ibondo Education Center. Last year, the water pipeline was expanded so that villagers no longer need to use the water tap on the school grounds. The brothers arranged for an additional connection directly in the village with the local provider, which the villagers laid themselves. This further reduces the distance families need to carry water. As in 2022, we can again ensure water supply for 37 families this year.

Once again, we were able to provide 83 children up to 12 years old with food and clothing from the families
